ZLINE vs ILVE vs FORNO Ranges: How They Compare (2026)

Last updated: October 26, 2026. Specs and warranty terms change; each fact links to its source, and the product page always shows current model details.

Short answer: All three brands sell professional-style freestanding ranges in common 30", 36", and 48" widths. ILVE is the Italian-made, highly customizable option (five widths up to 60", 216 custom colors) with a 2-year parts-and-labor warranty. FORNO offers a wide mix of fuel types (gas, dual fuel, electric, induction) with a 2-year warranty on many freestanding ranges. ZLINE ranges carry a 1-year parts-and-service warranty plus a limited lifetime warranty on gas burners. Pick by size, fuel, and finish first, then compare warranty terms.

How to choose

1. Start with width and cutout

Measure the opening and check the exact model's spec sheet for width, depth, and clearances to combustible surfaces. A 30" and a 36" range are not interchangeable without cabinet work.

2. Gas, dual fuel, electric, or induction

  • Gas: gas cooktop and gas oven. Needs a gas line sized for total BTU.
  • Dual fuel: gas burners with an electric oven. Needs gas and a dedicated electrical circuit (check amperage).
  • Induction/electric: no gas line; usually a higher-amperage circuit.

Converting between natural gas and propane needs the right kit and a licensed installer. Gas and electrical hookups should always be done by a licensed installer and checked against local code.

3. Single or double oven

48" and wider ranges usually split into two ovens. ILVE's Majestic offers double ovens up to 60".

4. Ventilation

Higher-BTU ranges need more hood airflow. Hoods capable of more than 400 CFM can trigger make-up air rules. Use our range hood CFM calculator.

5. Warranty and service

Compare length and what is covered (parts only vs parts and labor), who must do the service, and whether purchase channel affects coverage.

FAQ

Which brand is better: ZLINE, ILVE, or FORNO?

It depends on size, fuel, finish, and budget. Compare widths, fuel types, oven setup, and each maker's published warranty terms rather than ranking brands.

Do all three make 60-inch ranges?

ILVE lists 60-inch models in Majestic, Nostalgie, and Professional Plus. Our catalog also includes 60-inch FORNO models. Confirm the exact model on the product page.

Which warranty is longest on ranges?

Per maker pages checked Oct 26, 2026: ILVE and FORNO list 2-year terms on many freestanding ranges; ZLINE lists 1 year parts and service plus a limited lifetime warranty on gas burners. Warranty eligibility is set by the manufacturer.

Should I choose gas or dual fuel?

Gas needs a gas line sized for total BTU. Dual fuel needs gas plus a dedicated electrical circuit for the oven. Check the model spec sheet and have a licensed installer confirm your home can supply both.
