Short answer: If you want a new range or hood in place before the holidays, choose the size first (30, 36 or 48 inches to match your cabinet opening), pick gas or dual fuel based on the hookups you already have, add a hood at least as wide as the range, and ask us for the current freight lead time before you order. For gifts, range accessories and Kamado Joe grill accessories don't need installation.

1. Pick the width your kitchen already has

Width Typical layout In stock examples
30 inch 4 to 5 burners, one oven ZLINE RA30 dual fuel, 4.0 cu. ft. · Forno Galiano 30" French door gas, 5 burners
36 inch 6 burners, one oven ZLINE RA36 dual fuel, 4.6 cu. ft. · THOR LRG3601U gas, 6.0 cu. ft. · Forno Massimo 36" gas · Kucht Gemstone KED364 dual fuel, 5.2 cu. ft.
48 inch 7 to 8 burners or a griddle, often two ovens ZLINE RA48 dual fuel, 7 burners · THOR LRG4807U double oven gas, 6.8 cu. ft.

Not sure which width is right? Read 30 vs 36 vs 48 inch ranges. Replacing a range? Measure the finished opening and check the new model's cutout and clearances on its spec sheet. Nominal width alone is not enough.

2. Gas or dual fuel: match your hookups

A gas range runs the cooktop and oven on gas and many models need only a 120V outlet. A dual fuel range pairs gas burners with an electric oven, so it also needs a 240V circuit. If you have propane, buy the LP version or a model that supports conversion, for example the THOR LRG3601ULP. See gas vs dual fuel for the full comparison.

3. Add a hood that matches the range

Pick a hood at least as wide as the range. The ZLINE convertible vent wall hoods come in matching widths: KB-30, KB-36 and KB-48. "Convertible" means it can be ducted outside or, with a recirculating kit, run ductless. Size the airflow with our range hood CFM calculator, and browse all wall mount range hoods.

4. Hosting extras: wine and beverage cooling

5. Gifts that don't need an installer

Before you order a range or hood

  1. Confirm the model number, cutout dimensions and fuel type (natural gas or LP) on the spec sheet.
  2. Check the delivery path: door widths, stairs and turns. See the 48 inch range delivery checklist.
  3. Book a licensed installer for gas, electrical and venting work. Installation must follow the manufacturer's instructions and your local code.
  4. Ask us for the current lead time: email support@culinarycave.com with the model number and your ZIP code.

FAQ

When should I order a range to have it before the holidays?

As early as you can. Large ranges, hoods and refrigerators ship by freight, and delivery plus installation takes time to schedule. Email support@culinarycave.com with the model number and your ZIP code and we will tell you the current lead time before you order.

What size range should I buy for holiday cooking?

Buy the width that fits your cabinet opening. A 30 inch range usually has 4 to 5 burners and one oven, a 36 inch range usually has 6 burners, and many 48 inch ranges add a second oven or a griddle, which helps when you cook several dishes at once.

What range hood do I need for a new range?

Choose a hood at least as wide as the range. For CFM, start with our range hood CFM calculator. Hoods above 400 CFM may need makeup air under local code, so have a licensed installer confirm the duct size and requirements.

What are good kitchen gifts for someone who already has a pro-style range?

Range accessories that fit their brand, such as a THOR wok ring or cast iron griddle, a ZLINE reversible griddle, or, for outdoor cooks, Kamado Joe accessories such as a grill cover or sear plate. Check the compatibility note on each product page.
