Availability: Black and White are currently in stock and ready to ship. This is the 110–120V, 60Hz US version.
Factory testing notice: Turin grinders are tested with coffee before leaving the factory. A new grinder may therefore contain a small amount of coffee residue in the burr chamber.
The Turin SK40 is a compact, mostly metal single-dose grinder built around 40mm eight-point stainless-steel conical burrs. Its worm-drive stepless adjustment makes very small grind changes easy, giving espresso drinkers substantially more dialing control than a conventional stepped grinder at this price.
A tilted aluminum body, bellows, and short grounds path support a low-retention workflow. The 150W gear motor turns at approximately 400 RPM while grinding, producing a cup profile that generally emphasizes body, texture, and balanced sweetness. Although optimized for espresso control, the SK40 can grind from espresso through pour-over and French press.

The SK40 uses a side-mounted worm-drive knob to rotate the grind collar gradually. This provides nearly unlimited positions between marked settings and makes it particularly useful for espresso, where a small adjustment can substantially change shot time.
The tradeoff is speed when moving between brew methods: turning from fine espresso to coarse French press takes more knob rotations than it would on a stepped or directly rotated collar. The SK40 is therefore best for someone who stays primarily within one brew range, especially espresso, rather than switching back and forth several times each day.
The 40mm conical burrs generally produce a rounded, full-bodied cup with blended sweetness. That makes the SK40 a strong match for traditional espresso, medium and darker roasts, and milk drinks. It can also prepare pour-over and other filter methods, but customers seeking maximum flavor separation from light-roast filter coffee may prefer a flat-burr grinder such as the DF54.
Retention and static vary with roast level, bean age, humidity, cleaning, and bellows technique. A very light spray of water—RDT—may help in dry conditions, but it is not necessary for every coffee or environment.
| Grinder | Burr design | Best reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Turin SK40 | 40mm conical | Lowest price, very narrow footprint, and precise worm-drive espresso adjustment |
| Turin DF54 | 54mm flat | A cleaner, more separated flat-burr presentation and faster large-range adjustment |
| Moshi C63 | 63mm conical | A larger low-speed conical burr set with more substantial construction |
| Turin DC63 | 63mm conical | A premium step up for shoppers committed to large-conical espresso |
Choose the SK40 for affordable, precise espresso adjustment and conical-burr body. Choose the DF54 when clarity and easier movement between brew ranges matter more. The C63 and DC63 provide larger conical platforms at higher prices.
Yes. Espresso is one of the SK40’s primary strengths because its stepless worm-drive adjustment permits very small grind changes while dialing in.
Its conical burrs generally emphasize body, texture, and rounded sweetness rather than the pronounced flavor separation associated with clarity-focused flat burrs.
Yes. The grinder is designed to reach espresso-fine settings and provides enough adjustment control for standard non-pressurized baskets.
Yes. Its range covers espresso through coarse brewing methods. However, the worm-drive mechanism requires multiple turns when moving a long distance between settings.
Yes. The side adjustment knob drives the grind collar gradually without fixed clicks, allowing precise positions between the printed reference marks.
The SK40’s defining difference is its stepless worm-drive adjustment. Stepped SD40 versions are faster to move between brew methods, while the SK40 provides finer espresso control.
The SK40 uses 40mm conical burrs and generally produces more body and blended sweetness. The DF54 uses 54mm flat burrs and usually provides a cleaner, more separated presentation, particularly with lighter roasts.
Yes. It is intended for weighing and grinding one dose at a time and has an approximate 40g hopper capacity.
The tilted body and bellows are designed to reduce retention, but no grinder is literally zero retention. Results vary with the coffee, grind size, static, cleanliness, and bellows technique.
Not necessarily. A very light mist can reduce static in dry conditions, but many users will not need it with every coffee. Avoid adding excessive water.
A running start can reduce the initial load on the motor, especially with dense light-roast beans at fine espresso settings.
If beans are between the burrs, run the motor while making a significant adjustment finer. This helps prevent coffee from binding the burrs.
The grinder operates at approximately 400 RPM while grinding and approximately 650 RPM without beans. Actual behavior varies under load.
The geared motor has a distinctive mechanical sound. Perceived volume depends on the beans, grind setting, counter surface, and room.
The intended workflow uses the included metal dosing cup, which provides a clean and broadly compatible transfer into the portafilter.
Each grinder is tested with coffee at the factory to check operation and burr alignment. A small amount of residue in a new unit is therefore normal and does not mean it was previously owned.
The SK40 can be used immediately. Grind behavior may become more consistent after several pounds of coffee, but there is no need to waste a large amount before use.
Unplug the grinder, brush away loose grounds, and keep water out of the burr chamber and motor. Oily dark roasts generally require more frequent cleaning.

The Turin SK40 is a compact electric single-dose grinder built around a 40 mm conical burr and stepless adjustment. It is an espresso-focused choice for buyers who want fine control and measured portions without the hand effort of an H40.
Choose it for a small home bar, one or two users and a straightforward conical-burr routine. The stepless collar provides precision but benefits from a written setting reference because there are no fixed clicks.
DF54 is the flat-burr alternative at a similar entry level. DC63 moves to a larger conical platform, while H40 V2 is the portable manual choice.

The collar can stop between marked positions, giving fine espresso control without click increments.
SK40 uses a 40 mm conical platform; DF54 uses 54 mm flat burrs and a different cup and workflow profile.
It can grind coarser, but buyers moving frequently between filter and espresso should record settings and account for exchange.
It keeps a compact conical single-dose routine while removing manual grinding effort.
Approach the target consistently, keep the collar clean and record references rather than relying on memory.
Love these jars- easy clean and easy to see sourdough starter progress.
I got this about a month ago and so far I am loving it. I have used several times and it grinds freshly milled flour effortlessly. Wish I would have bought one sooner
I have been very impressed with my Bosch mixer! Love it!

So easy to use for a new beginner. I’m looking forward to loaves of bread using this wonderful machine
I’d been eyeing the party barge for a few months, and finally decided to take the plunge because we were hosting a 50+ person brunch. This cooler was the star of the show! Held all the prosecco & juices for the mimosa bar plus the mixers/alcohol for the signature cocktail. Perfection! Everyone was talking about it. Clean up was easy - simply carried it outside to empty with the other coolers. Probably will purchase the smaller size in the future.
so happy with this great product - finally able to process without hours of hand cranking - thank you for such a wonderful grain mill
White Universal Plus, is so much better making fresh milled flour into dough then into bread. I make loaves at a time.
Going from a manual grain mill to this nutril mill impact grain mill was wonderful. While a little louder than thought and perhaps a little slower than expected, it was way better than grinding manually. VERY Happy I found this grain mill.
When I first got my mill, I had a bag of corn meal on my shelf that was sitting, unused because it was too coarse. I put it through the mill on the finest setting and it milled it quickly and perfectly. That night, I cooked cornbread with the cornmeal that I had refused to use because it was so coarse. That is only the beginning of my journey. I have milled cornbread, wheat and spelt, all without problems. Everything comes out perfectly.
I have used this for a week and so far I love it.
Exactly as advertised. Very nice!
