Choose the option that fits your timing and budget:
The Turin H40 V2 is a compact manual coffee grinder with a 40mm seven-core 420 stainless-steel conical burr, external adjustment, an aluminum body, and an integrated 58mm blind-shaker catch cup. It provides an affordable way to grind freshly for espresso, AeroPress, pour-over, drip, moka pot, and immersion brewing without relying on electricity.
The dark gray aluminum body is wrapped with a textured black grip sleeve, while the crank uses a walnut wood knob for comfortable leverage. Four bearings—one in the handle and three along the central axle—support a smoother crank motion and help control shaft movement. At approximately 875g with a 30g capacity, the H40 V2 balances portability with a reassuringly substantial build.

The seven-core conical burr generally produces a balanced cup with good body, texture, and blended sweetness. It is a natural match for traditional espresso, moka pot, AeroPress, medium and darker roasts, and milk drinks. It can also produce enjoyable pour-over and drip coffee across a broad roast range.
Customers whose highest priority is extreme flavor separation from light-roast filter coffee may prefer a grinder with specialized clarity-focused burr geometry. The H40 V2 is best understood as an affordable, versatile all-round hand grinder.
Do not rely on another owner’s exact setting. True zero, coffee density, roast level, dose, basket, and recipe can all change the position required. If beans are trapped between the burrs, rotate the crank gently while adjusting finer rather than forcing the dial.
The H40 V2 can grind fine enough for non-pressurized espresso baskets, but espresso requires more effort and time than filter grinding. Dense light-roast beans and very fine settings are the most demanding. The textured grip, long crank, walnut knob, and bearing-supported axle help provide control, but manual espresso remains a physical process.
For one or two drinks, quiet operation, or travel, the H40 V2 is practical and compact. If you regularly prepare several consecutive espresso drinks, consider an electric grinder such as the SK40 or DF54.
The blind-shaker insert is optional. Remove it to use the cup as a conventional catch cup for espresso or filter coffee.
| Grinder | Design | Best reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Turin H40 V2 | 40mm manual conical | Affordable, portable all-round grinding with an integrated blind shaker |
| Turin H63 | 63mm manual conical | Larger burr, greater 35–40g capacity, and a more substantial manual platform |
| Turin SK40 | 40mm electric conical | Stepless electric espresso grinding without hand-cranking |
| Turin DF54 | 54mm electric flat | Electric convenience and a cleaner, more separated flat-burr presentation |
Choose the H40 V2 for portability, value, and a versatile manual workflow. Choose the H63 for a larger manual burr and capacity. Choose the SK40 or DF54 when electric convenience matters more than power-free operation.

Yes. Its adjustment range reaches espresso-fine settings, and its 58mm catch cup and blind-shaker insert are specifically useful for espresso preparation.
Yes. The external adjustment covers espresso, moka pot, AeroPress, pour-over, drip, and coarser immersion brewing.
It uses a 40mm seven-core conical burr made from 420 stainless steel.
Yes. Grind size is changed from the outside of the grinder, so you do not need to remove the catch cup to adjust it.
There is no universal setting. Calibrate your grinder, start in the espresso range, and adjust based on shot time and taste. Settings posted by another owner may not correspond exactly to your grinder’s zero point.
Calibrate the empty grinder using the manufacturer’s procedure shown in the video below. Approach burr contact gently and never force the burrs tightly together.
Espresso is more demanding than filter grinding. Darker roasts are generally easier, while dense light roasts and fine settings require more torque and time.
The H40 V2 uses a 40mm burr, holds approximately 30g, and is lighter and less expensive. The H63 uses a larger 63mm burr, holds approximately 35–40g, and weighs slightly more.
Yes. It requires no electricity and has a compact body. At approximately 875g, it is substantial for its size, so it is better suited to normal travel and car camping than ultralight backpacking.
Capacity is approximately 30g depending on bean density—enough for most espresso, AeroPress, pour-over, and single-cup recipes.
The bearings support the handle and axle, helping reduce shaft movement and provide a smoother crank motion.
Magnets secure the cup to the grinder while allowing it to be removed quickly without unscrewing it from the body.
It is a removable plunger inside the catch cup that lets you shake and redistribute grounds before releasing them into a 58mm portafilter.
No. Remove the insert to use the magnetic cup as a conventional catch cup.
It is designed around a standard 58mm espresso workflow. Exact seating can vary among portafilter and basket designs.
Some static is possible in dry conditions. Hand grinders typically require little or no RDT, but a very light mist may help with an unusually static-prone coffee.
Use the included brush to remove loose grounds. Keep water away from the steel burr, bearings, and internal components, and follow the disassembly video below.
No. Clean the burr dry. Water left on the steel or inside the bearings may cause corrosion or damage.
The grinder can be used immediately. Grind behavior may become more consistent with use, but there is no need to waste a large amount of coffee before brewing.
Use the grinder manually unless Turin specifically supplies and approves a powered adapter. A drill can overspeed the burr, damage components, and create a safety risk.
No. It is completely manual and can be used without an outlet or battery.

The Turin H40 V2 is a portable 40 mm conical hand grinder for travelers, pour-over drinkers and espresso users who value independence from power. Its external adjustment and roughly 30 g capacity make it practical for single servings without opening the grinder to change settings.
Choose it for portability, backup duty or a tactile manual routine. Hand grinding at fine espresso settings demands more effort than filter grinding, so the intended roast level, dose and physical comfort should be considered before purchase.
The H63 is the larger premium hand-grinder alternative. SK40 converts a compact conical workflow to electric power, while DF54 is the flat-burr electric step.

Love these jars- easy clean and easy to see sourdough starter progress.
I got this about a month ago and so far I am loving it. I have used several times and it grinds freshly milled flour effortlessly. Wish I would have bought one sooner

So easy to use for a new beginner. I’m looking forward to loaves of bread using this wonderful machine
I’d been eyeing the party barge for a few months, and finally decided to take the plunge because we were hosting a 50+ person brunch. This cooler was the star of the show! Held all the prosecco & juices for the mimosa bar plus the mixers/alcohol for the signature cocktail. Perfection! Everyone was talking about it. Clean up was easy - simply carried it outside to empty with the other coolers. Probably will purchase the smaller size in the future.
so happy with this great product - finally able to process without hours of hand cranking - thank you for such a wonderful grain mill
White Universal Plus, is so much better making fresh milled flour into dough then into bread. I make loaves at a time.
Going from a manual grain mill to this nutril mill impact grain mill was wonderful. While a little louder than thought and perhaps a little slower than expected, it was way better than grinding manually. VERY Happy I found this grain mill.
When I first got my mill, I had a bag of corn meal on my shelf that was sitting, unused because it was too coarse. I put it through the mill on the finest setting and it milled it quickly and perfectly. That night, I cooked cornbread with the cornmeal that I had refused to use because it was so coarse. That is only the beginning of my journey. I have milled cornbread, wheat and spelt, all without problems. Everything comes out perfectly.
I have used this for a week and so far I love it.
Exactly as advertised. Very nice!
